Friday night, JaniKing hosted franchise holders at the Auckland / Christchurch Super Smash double header.
It was a great day - which made a change this summer. We got there during the innings break, and saw the Canterbury Magicians make light work of the run chase.
In the second game, the Canterbury Kings came out blazing, and scored at a good rate - but also lost wickets. At the end of the innings, they were 173/9.
The Auckland Aces came out but never really looked like they were going to chase down the target. The required run rate started near nine per over and climbed steadily. And Auckland started losing wickets, finishing up at 132/9. But 300 odd runs and 18 wickets in 40 overs made it a pretty entertaining game.
In the end, a convincing 40 run win for the Kings just as the dusk was deepening.

After the game, Harry got his flag signed by the entire team - he was really chuffed with that. Next time we'll have to get the Magicians signatures.
We took the bus in from Halswell. According to Google, we could have saved 20 minutes by taking the car, but would have needed time to find a park and to get to the Oval.
